Metal, Plastic, And Ceramic Precision Machining
Schivo’s global production platform features the highly-precise machining of metal, plastic, and ceramic medical device components. The unconventional way we apply our machining knowledge and capabilities enables breakthroughs in OEM cost, productivity, and time to market.
Our precision metal machining involves the highly accurate fabrication of complex metal components used in diagnostic, surgical, and implantable devices. This process is critical in ensuring components meet strict medical-grade standards for performance, durability, and biocompatibility.
Our precision plastic machining transforms medical-grade materials into complex components used in diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical applications. This process supports tight tolerances, high repeatability, and material integrity — all essential for regulatory compliance and patient safety.
Schivo’s precision and machining capabilities include the following services:
Micromachining: Schivo’s CNC micro-milling and laser micro-machining produce extremely small and intricate parts for implants and surgical instruments. This process is ideal for machining tiny features in catheters, drug delivery devices, and endoscopic components
Swiss-style CNC Machining: recommended for machining small, high-precision parts requiring high-volume production. This technology is commonly used to machine hypodermic tubes, bone screws, cannulas, cylindrical parts, and implant products
Multi-Axis CNC Machining: this technology enables production of complex geometries with tight tolerances (±0.001 inch). It is used to machine orthopedic implants, surgical tools, and housings for electronic medical devices
Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM): our process enables production of conductive metals without direct contact. It is well suited for small features, slots, and internal contours in hard materials.
Turning and Milling: This turning technology enables high-precision production of shafts, fasteners, and implant stems. It is ideal for machining complex geometries and tight tolerances. Precision milling creates complex pockets, contours, and surfaces.
Internal Diameter (ID) and Outer Diameter (OD) Grinding: Schivo’s grinding technologies manufacture and finish cylindrical components requiring tight tolerances, superior surface finishes, and precise geometries. ID grinding achieves tight tolerances inside bores or tubular parts found in endoscopic instruments, cannulas, and surgical tubes. OD grinding finishes the external surfaces of cylindrical parts such as guidewires, bone screws, rods, or pins.
