Wire EDM

We offer machining, metal finishing and component verification

Providing more than just the components we create.

Wire EDM

Electro Discharge Machining (EDM) is a metal fabrication process whereby electrical current is passed through a metal wire, conducted by deionized water, and used to create a discharge between both the wire and an electrically conductive material such as stainless steel. The electrothermal nature of the process means that utilizing wire EDM is capable of producing highly complex parts from conductive materials with no risk of corrosion on the final piece.

There are a multitude of benefits to taking a Wire EDM approach to production including the following;

  • Wire EDM allows for the production of complex patterns that are significantly more difficult to produce through the use of conventional cutting tools.
  • As the Wire EDM machine and the work material don’t make physical contact with one another, it is possible to produce intricate design pieces from delicate material.
  • Parts produced with the use of Wire EDM are left with minimal burs meaning that there is less post-production work required for them to meet quality standards.
